Going to Mass and praying together was wonderful. However, I was disappointed by the following by chaotic and confusing scheduling and direction. Please note: Dignity lives in the details, and we were not treated with dignity. See examples below: On our arrival, the tour guide took us to the hotel and let us drop off the luggage and use the restroom and that was it. She ten tool us to Padua where she dropped us off and took us the wrong way. We then had to backtrack our steps, and she then told us we had 20 minutes for lunch. She seemed to not have any sympathy for the fact we had just arrived in Italy with little sleep. This would seem like a no-brainer given she is the tour guide and should know the direction we should take. Father Norbert was angry and told her so which was uncomfortable to watch. After each day's tour, the guide would tell us what we were having for dinner and the schedule for the next day. Inevitably it would change several times. She and Fr. Norbert would argue. It would have been much more efficient to put all of us on a text chain or send one email every day with the exact timing of the schedule for the following morning. This lack of clarity was very tiring and led me to think that the trip was poorly planned from the beginning. The time for dinner changed everyday. Sometimes dinner was scheduled for 8 p.m. which is way too late for people who have been walking all day. The tour guide said the late hour was because that's what Italians do. She seemed to be unable to empathize that we needed rest and early dinner may not be what Italians do, but we should have been accommodated. It is hard to write a negative review of the tour but I do want to say that I made some great friends and was joyous to be party of wonderful Catholic pilgrimage.

Our pilgrimage with Saint Anne’s San Diego and JMJ Catholic was truly life-changing. Traveling to Rome, Venice, Orvieto, Padua, and Vatican City gave us the gift of seeing our Catholic faith come alive. From the Audience with the Pope to visiting the Major Basilicas and walking through the Holy Doors, every moment was filled with reverence and joy. The meals, hotels, and daily organization were exceptional, and our guide Dario shared the faith with such passion and knowledge. I returned home spiritually renewed and filled with gratitude. Thank you, JMJ Catholic and Saint Anne’s, for an unforgettable journey that brought me closer to God and to our beautiful Church.

We saw many beautiful and holy sights on this trip. It was very inspiring. However, the accommodations were very poor. With the exception of the hotel in Siena, the others were old, small and somewhat dirty. The food was also subpar in most of the hotels. Our tour guide, Beatrice, is lovely but could use a little more experience. Our bus driver was amazing! Having said all that, I am glad I had the experience of going to Italy and visiting all the holy sights. My suggestion to JMJ would be to upgrade the hotels they book for the pilgrimages.

We saw amazing churches, relics, and landmarks. The hotels were average at best except for one which we stayed in for only one day. The food was just average. The bus driver and tour leader were very good. The church group organizer made preferential treatment to some of the attendees and not to the others which made things uncomfortable for others.
